Come on, do we look like killers?

Tonight we went to a 1920's vineyard themed murder mystery party. We both were badass characters who had secrets. Stan assumed the identity of his deceased cellmate in prison and I had two dead husbands and a dead fiance to my name. Even with our histories, we were both found innocent of the murder this evening.

Stan and Lisa a.k.a. "Ralph Rottengrape and Tiny Bubbles"

Stan looks so freaking badass.

The food was excellent and the vino was flowing. It was a nice gathering, although weird to have it during the week vs. a weekend.

And now, this is Lisa transforming back to normal:

Cheesy headband off. Check.

Bobby pin removal in progress.

Sexy high heeled mary janes off. Check.

Jammers on.

Time to watch the election results and Nip/Tuck. Damn, but I wish I had naturally curly hair. It looks incredible.

Vote or Die

I like it when you vote bitch. Shake your titties when you vote bitch!
Everyone who reads this MUST VOTE TODAY. Or else. . .

Frank Black rocks.

Jesse and I went to see Frank Black last weekend. There's been a ton of stuff he's released I haven't had a chance to listen to, but I enjoyed the show nonetheless, and even rocked out a bit.

The best parts were:
  1. Running into my friend Shelly who I haven't seen for 5 years. Turns out she was trying to track me down, but I was unlisted. Yea for Shelly! I missed her mucho.
  2. Comparing the band members to other people.

Bad pic to compare, but this Eric looks like a perfect old fat Eric Reichart. Seriously. It was hilarious.

Duane kinda sorta looks like Dylan Walsh from Nip/Tuck.
I told him this after the show and he said he'd check into it.
I think he's going to assume I just think he's super hot.
See below:

Dylan Walsh of Nip/Tuck

3.
Grabbing a slice at Luce afterwards. It's been awhile.

The worst parts were:
  1. The drunk LOUD and TALKATIVE guy behind us. No, Frank can't hear you, so stop talking. He tried to argue with Jesse after he asked him to quiet down, but shut up quickly when Jesse ignored him.
  2. The short, fat, drunk chick who kept thrashing, I mean dancing, as if she had all the room in the world.
  3. Her annoying pogo happy boyfriend who stepped on my foot. Thank goodness Jesse was there to protect me.
It was a good night followed by lots of sleep and a mellow Saturday. Life . . . it is good.

Tattoo ideas for Jesse from the Suicide Girls

She's even got the cig.

She's Hot *and* she's holding a gun. Rwar.

Sexy pose lady.

Take out the Suicide Girls stuff and this rocks.

Okay, she kind of looks like a dude, but I like the glasses.

Decemberween is Coming. . .

And you should buy me this in XL (scroll down to bottom of page).

I AM GOING TO HAWAII!

Could also be titled: "I worked out for 3 hours yesterday" or "I did 400 situps. Beat that you motherfucker."

Now I just need to keep that momentum going. I am planning on alternating my annoying Denise Austin kickboxing DVD with my equally annoying callenetics (think extreme yoga/this is the one that asks you to do 400 situps) DVD.

I have 69 days until I arrive in Hawaii. I would like to increase my strength and stamina (Renee wants to go extreme hiking) and lose 10 pounds.

The gauntlet has been dropped. Time to kick ass.

The Bastard Child of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and Rolos

Lisa Tranquilizers

Reese's Peanut Butter Cups are my favorite candy. I love the salty peanut butter. For me, the chocolate is a bonus, although I don't usually don't care about eating the edges. I'll do it, but it's not really worth the calorie hit.

Second is any chocolate that has caramel in it.

Today I saw the perfect, absolute best candy ever: Reese's Peanut Butter Cups with Caramel. AMAZING. The caramel makes it very sweet, but my brain kept registering caramel, then peanut butter than back to caramel again, and again, and again. WOW. The best part was that the edges of the cup had caramel hidden way back to the edge of the chocolate so eating the edges of the cup was not even a question.

This candy is absurdly packed with all that makes me happy. Like Ace Pear Cider, it joins the ranks of magical food items that soothes the savage Lisa beast within. If Stan is smart, he will sock some of these babies away for when I get bitchy.

Jesse is the best girlfriend ever! Squeal!!!

The trailer for LOST next week showed a clip of a man wearing a patch. A new character said, "Who the hell is that?" which was what we were all thinking about her.

My first thought was, "It's Patch! From Days of Our Lives!" What a crossover! Stan had no idea what I was talking about, but Jesse knew who he was. Bo's brother and rival whose eye he stabbed out sometime in the 80's. I was so excited that one of the guys actually knew who I was talking about that I felt like a giggly teenager all over again.

I just found out that he is back on the show. What are the odds? If only Days was on ABC I would totally believe it was a plug placed on LOST. Man, if it was true, it would have been the awesome.

My eye and I are back in Salem.

The Spiritual Education of Noah: Part One.

"Mom, who lives in that castle?"

"That's not a castle Noah, that's a church."

"Who lives in the church?"

"No one lives there. That's where people go to worship God."

"What's God?"

"He's the magical being that created the entire universe and is constantly watching us and taking care of us."

"Oh."

Let me tell you, so far the kid is not that impressed.

The "Amazing" Zurah Shrine Circus

Our neighbor gave us discount tickets to the circus. We upgraded to closer seats and paid $26 for the three of us. The acts we really liked were the ones that took real talent: the juggling, the tight rope walkers, the 5 motorcyclists in a metal ball, etc. The animal acts were mostly just sad. However, Noah saw pepole riding the elephant and just HAD TO RIDE IT! Here we are on one of the biggest land mammals alive today:

Momma and Noah on Ellie.

Our favorite act of all was the stunt man being shot out of a cannon. It lasted not even 5 seconds, but it was amazingly cool to see a guy hurtling across the Target Center.

For those of you who know my opinion of clowns, I will let you know that they were so lame they weren't even close to being scary.

In the future, I think we will be going to people only circuses. There are many professional shows out there to check out. And there are some great family shows coming up in the cities. Free even! I hate the cold weather of MN, but it is a great city to raise a family in.

Stayed up late dreaming of owning the fecal matter of your favorite celebrity? Well, now your dreams can come true!

Just visit this site and the bacteria, skin flakes and fecal matter can be yours for the price!

I don't know about you, but I know what I'm getting Stan for his birthday.

Jeff Bridges "The Dude" - Skin cells $10.95, Bacteria $6.75.

Mmmm. . . beefy.

I was a vegetarian for 3 1/2 years and then went back to eating meat. Stan eats meat, but not mammals. Jesse is allergic to fish. So I can make chicken or turkey for dinner. I know that they make turkey/chicken/vegetarian everything now days, but it's not the same. It's good, but doesn't even come close to measuring up to real pork or beef.

Tomorrow we are having people over to hang out so I seized the opportunity to make beef stew for the first time in about 12 years. The amazing smell is permeating the house and I am so happy. It's one of my favorite meals not only to eat, but to make. When I was a kid, I would fry the beef cubes in Crisco and use a McCormick's Seasoning Packet. But now, I have matured. This stew is 100% homemade, I used olive oil, real herbs and spices, and IT TASTES AMAZING.

It will be served along side vegetarian chili, baked brie with apple and pear in a filio crust and lots of different kinds of bread. There will be apple pie and ice cream for dessert and plenty of drinks (alcoholic and non).

So come on over already. We have plenty for everyone!

Stay at home mom - slash- belly dancer

Who knew that Barney's penis was a belly dancer?

Tonight I started my belly dancing class. Wow. It is amazingly hard to do such precise, specific movements without moving your whole body. The vibe was cool and the people were fun. I'm really glad I decided to do it.

Wenda has an appointment to interview a new daycare provider on Monday, so Avery might not be here for much longer. It will be a relief to not be doing so much daycare and cutting out the "mom" mode of life out a little bit more.

I have lost myself in taking care of kids and am reclaiming parts of my life. It's awesome. It's also scary. I feel that I should be doing any extra work I can when I am at home and giving up any small part of that makes me feel guilty (Oh, I am so Norwegian!).

So if anyone needs a massage, give me a freaking call already. I need to keep up the massage momentum and keep my home practice booked out!

Noah is crazy go nuts

A couple of days ago the phone rang and Noah wanted to answer it. I saw that the call was from Papa John so I let him.

When John asked if it was Noah on the phone, Noah said, "No, this is the office man." Then he commenced mumbling and doing his gruff nervous chuckle for a bit. After that he said in a very clear, concise, angry voice: "And if you ever touch my wife, I will put you in a time out in the yellow chair!!!" At that, John hung up.

I was laughing so hard it took me a minute to gather myself before I took the phone and called him back. I asked him if he knew that it was Noah, or if he thought it was a crazy person. John actually thought he called some guy at an office and the guy started threatening him out of the blue.

We have no idea where Noah got the idea to say that, but it sure was funny. Especially when you realize that the yellow chair he was referring to is a foot tall plastic toddler chair.

Awesome.

Noah learned to whistle

My god. What next?

Hopefully it will involve housekeeping, yardwork and cooking skils.

Is my brain in the gutter, or are kid's shows really full of sexual innuendo?

Noah is watching a Baby Looney Tunes episode called "Bend it Like Petunia."

I know it's a soccer term, but still, I can't stop snickering.

First week of school eqauls first cold of the season.

Damn little walking petri dishes full of germs!

Noah is in a preschool class four days a week with 18 kids and 3 adults. He is also in a creative movement class one day a week with 10 different kids and one teacher.

Nemy took Noah for an overnight on Saturday, and I was so sick with sinus congestion crap that we had to come home after dinner so I could use the netti pot, take drugs and rub essential oils onto my feet, neck and forehead. We cuddled up in bed and watched "V for Vendetta" which was a good, if not great movie.

It's now Monday afternoon and I still feeling horrible. Functioning horrible, but still horrible. I reek of eucalyptis, thyme and tea tree oils. I'm drinking so much water and tea I am practically living in the bathroom. I am fighting the good fight, and hope to kill those bastard germs off soon.

Hooray! Hooray! Hooray for the start of school!

Wedding-band technology for forgetful husbands brings new meaning to burning ring of fire

No more excuses for forgetful husbands. The prototype ring heats up a week before your wedding anniversary, reminding him to ge a gift, etc.

This would be good for Stan. He loves me, he would hate to miss an anniversary, but he really does not have the best memory for things like this.

How to Argue Effectively

How to argue effectively
By Stuart J. Williams, Attorney at Law

I argue very well. Ask any of my remaining friends. I can win an argument on any topic, against any opponent. People know this and steer clear of me at parties. Often, as a sign of their great respect, they don't even invite me. You too can win arguments. Simply follow these rules:

Drink liquor.

Suppose you are at a party and some hotshot intellectual is expounding on the economy of Peru, a subject you know nothing about. If you're drinking some health-fanatic drink like grapefruit juice, you'll hang back, afraid to display your ignorance, while the hotshot enthralls your date. But if you drink several large martinis, you'll discover you have STRONG VIEWS about the Peruvian economy. You'll be a WEALTH of information. You'll argue forcefully, offering searing insights and possibly upsetting furniture. People will be impressed. Some may leave the room.

Make things up.

Suppose, in the Peruvian economy argument, you are trying to prove that Peruvians are underpaid, a position you base solely on the fact that YOU are underpaid, and you'll be damned if you're going to let a bunch of Peruvians be better off. DON'T say: "I think Peruvians are underpaid." Say instead: "The average Peruvian's salary in 1981 dollars adjusted for the revised tax base is $1,452.81 per annum, which is $836.07 before the mean gross poverty level."

NOTE: Always make up exact figures.

If an opponent asks you where you got your information, make THAT up too. Say: "This information comes from Dr. Hovel T. Moon's study for the Buford Commission published on May 9, 1982. Didn't you read it?" Say this in the same tone of voice you would use to say, "You left your soiled underwear in my bathroom."

Use meaningless but weighty-sounding words and phrases.

Memorize this list:

Let me put it this way
In terms of
Vis-a-vis
Per se
As it were
Qua
Ipso facto
Ergo
So to speak

You should also memorize some Latin abbreviations such as "Q.E.D.", "e.g.", and "i.e." These are all short for "I speak Latin, and you don't." Here's how to use these words and phrases. Suppose you want to say, "Peruvians would like to order appetizers more often, but they don't have enough money."

You never win arguments talking like that. But you WILL win if you say, "Let me put it this way. In terms of appetizers vis-a-vis Peruvians qua Peruvians, they would like to order them more often, so to speak, but they do not have enough money per se, as it were. Ergo, ipso facto, case closed. Q.E.D."

Only a fool would challenge that statement.

Use snappy and irrelevant comebacks.

You need an arsenal of all-purpose irrelevant phrases to fire back at your opponents when they make valid points. The best are:

You're begging the question.
You're being defensive.
Don't compare apples to oranges.
What are your parameters?

This last one is especially valuable. Nobody (other than engineers and policy wonks) has the vaguest idea what "parameters" means.

Don't forget the classic: YOU'RE SO LINEAR.

Here's how to use your comebacks:

You say: As Abraham Lincoln said in 1873...
Your opponent says: Lincoln died in 1865.
You say: You're begging the question.
You say: Liberians, like most Asians...
Your opponent says: Liberia is in Africa.
You say: You're being defensive.
You say: Since the discovery of the incandescent light bulb...
Your opponent says: The light bulb is an invention.
You say: Well DUH!

Compare your opponent to Adolf Hitler.

This is your heavy artillery, for when your opponent is obviously right and you are spectacularly wrong. Bring Hitler up subtly. Say, "That sounds suspiciously like something Adolf Hitler might say," or "You certainly do remind me of Adolf Hitler."

I promised to wait until spring. Hopefully I will see a dog JUST LIKE THIS ONE in April.

How cute is he!?!

I can't believe that your license plates were from Minnesota because you actually knew how to fucking merge onto the freeway.

Thank you for not making me hit my brakes needlessly.

Oh, in an aside, to the people who put bumper stickers on that have annoyingly small print: grow some balls and get a bumper sticker where the font is larger than 12.

Thank you.

Dear Lisa,

Thank you for your application for Phoebe. I am very sorry but Phoebe has not been
consistently well behaved around children and given Noah's age, I don't

will be a good match for your family. I encourage you to continue
looking for

Where's Richard Simmons when you need him?

As Denise Austin would say, "Let's burn some butter!" She's horribly annoying, but I heart her workouts. Quick and efficient.

Now that my back is better, I am starting SparkPeople today! It's like the Weight Watchers Points Program, except it is free. I am going to totally screw up on Saturday (Ladies Pond Party hosted by Mom Reade) but otherwise am committed to the straight and narrow.

Time to get my body back. Time to stop numbing myself with food and alcohol.

Hawaii is calling and I want to look HOT. Or at the very least, hotter than today.

So come on cheerleaders, let's do this thing!

Orange

My sister's favorite color is orange. Her hubby loves orange (and all things orange) so much he has "Potiron" (which is pumpkin in French) tattooed on his arm. So this is for them. And they should take the quiz as well.

Zombie Night

The Zombie Pub Crawl 2 rocked. Here's the pictures to prove it.

Stan and Jesse getting ready at Paul's house.

Paul was totally screwed.

Lisa gorges on human flesh before "the gathering."

The gathering. 350 zombies strong.
Walking in a zombie horde down the middle of the street was one of the best times I've ever had.

Stan is the cutest zombie ever. Note his human flesh snack.

I had Paul's cat for a snack.

My spray bottle of blood was the hit of the crawl.

Stan brains are the tastiest!!!

Unfortunately our batteries ran out at Elsie's while we were zombowling. Things got more drunken crazy after that. And I have the bruise of all drunken bruises to prove it.

Missed out? Drink Like a Pirate Day is Saturday starting at 7 PM. We won't be there, but you should.

Should you talk me out of it?

I so want this dog.

We're going on a pub crawl. You should too.

He's everything you want. He's everything you need. He's everything inside of you that you wish you could be.

He says all the right things at exactly the right time. But he means nothing to you and you don't know why.

You're waiting for someone.
To put you together.
You're waiting for someone to push you away.
There's always another wound to discover.
There's always something more you wish he'd say.

Too bad the things that might be good for you are the things you can't accept.

Or then again, maybe it was a wrong match to begin with.

All I know is that my best friend is hurting. Badly.

And that makes me more upset that I can say.

Potty Training

Stan and I have finally taken the plunge (so to speak) and got our act together when it comes to potty training. We were making the whole thing way to easy on Noah: pull-ups when we went out, cleaning him ASAP when he had an accident. As Grandma Reade pointed out to me on Thursday night, we took away all of the consequences and expected results. Ugh. This parenting thing takes way too much work.

After my pep talk from Reade, I kicked myself in the ass and started on Friday. We made a chart for Noah. Every time he goes to the bathroom he gets a smiley face and a treat. He needs to stay dry for seven days and then he gets the mega prize: Sponge Bob Legos.

One day dry, six more to go.

Awesome.

Squid Soap

Squid soap is the awesome. Someone buy it for me, please?

The child puts a "squid ink" mark on their hand(s) and then washes it with the soap until the mark is gone. It teaches kids to wash their hands the correct amount of time. Genius. Pure genius.
